Dear Parents,
The last day of school! I know that everyone is ready for a break, but I always find this day a bit sad. Sad partly because this will be Mrs. Kennedy's last day. She has been a great colleague and friend; she has been a much loved teacher.
The 5th and 6th grade students had a lunch for Mrs. Kennedy. They presented her with a card, a CD of "goodbyes", a cake and several presents. She will be missed.
We are starting up our second summer of Weed N Feed. Next Tuesday, June 28, from 5 - 8 PM, we invite middle school students, those students that will be in 5th - 8th grade, to help in the garden then enjoy a cookout.
Garden activities will include weeding, pruning, mowing grass, working with compost, and planting. All students participating should dress for outdoor work and quickly changing weather. If you are interested in attending or have questions, please contact Ms. Johns by email or home phone.
Check the school sign or garden blog for more garden events!!!
Report cards will be sent home on June 23rd.
Have a great summer!

Dear Parents,
As we head into the last week, students are taking final unit tests and finishing up projects. Today, the 5th and 6th graders updated their portfolios with math and science exemplars.
The 8th graders are putting the finishing touches on their robotics projects and making last minutes touches to their presentations. There are, of course some big challenges to solve in the next 24 hours. If you make it to the school, perhaps for graduation, be sure to take a look at the 6th grade math projects. Students put a lot of work into their projects and have a much better understanding of percentage.
In your envelopes, you will see a sign-up sheet for garden help. This year we have a container with tip sheets, a log, a camera for picture taking (we have a blog), containers for bugs (so our experts can identify them!) Please help us out if you can.
We will be trying to do several Weed N Feeds this year. If you remember last year’s, you will recall that we had fun despite being rained out.

Dear Parents,
This was a good week made better by the fact that the students could get outside. Kickball is the favored game at the moment.
The students in the robotics club gave Mrs. Weed a thank-you note and several of the students were able to take a look at the current 8th grade project. It is very impressive. You can see their work on Friday, June 10th, at all-school assembly.
The final projects for the 6th grade math students are due on Wednesday, June 8th. We will review the unit that day and have the unit test on Thursday.
The 5th/6th grade trip is tentatively scheduled for June 10th. We will be taking a boat trip from MMA. Students will leave Penobscot at 7:45 and return in time for all-school assembly. Each student will need to bring a bag lunch or they can order one from the kitchen.
