March 18, 2011

Dear Parents,

The 5th and 6th grade class would like to do a fund raiser for the recent victims of the earthquake/tsunami. We have spent some time discussing ideas and this is what we have come up with.

The theme would be a 16 hour puzzle marathon and the date would be March 25th from 4:00PM until 8:00AM, March 26th. People would pledge $3 per completed puzzle with the possibility of capping their donation.

The students would like to have pizza and coleslaw for Friday night’s dinner and pancakes for Saturday’s breakfast. Are there parents who could help with snacks? Some of the healthy snacks we came up with are fruit salad and popcorn.

Chaperones will be me, Mrs. Kennedy and Cyndy Willis and any other parent who volunteers. All parents are welcome to attend any portion of the event.

We have made our first exploratory trips out to the greenhouse. The beds are still frozen but we were able to remove some stored items (fence and tomato cages). We harvested some parsnips and saw a mouse. The students felt sure it was Pi. The garden area is very wet. Will you send in a pair of extra sneakers and socks or even better, rubber boots so that we can all get out there? Thanks!!

Robotics is going well. We have met twice.
